WHAT WE TREAT

Is Our Practice Right For You?

We work with chronic conditions that haven't responded well to other treatments. We use traditional Chinese medicine and diagnostics to treat the root cause—not just the symptoms.

Digestive Issues

that don't go away after elimination diets or standard protocols.

Chronic Pain

like TMJ rooted in undiagnosed issues or systemic inflammation.

Chronic Stress

or anxiety that talk therapy alone hasn't fully resolved.

Autoimmune Conditions

that still disrupt your daily life despite treatment.

Hormonal Patterns

dismissed or missed for years before diagnosis.

We Do Things a Little Differently

At BEING, we offer personalized traditional Chinese medicine programs for chronic conditions and deep patterns, which require time and persistence to meaningfully shift. We enroll individuals ready for a sustained journey, moving you beyond temporary relief to lasting resolution.

Tailored To You

Based on your needs, we match you to a healing program that can meet your goals.

Not A Quick Fix

Chronic conditions and deep patterns need at least three months of care to shift.

Restoration, In Their Words

ANNE IS THE BEST! She’s helped me address a wide range of issues with Chinese medicine - she relieved my TMJ with acupuncture, resolved a rare skin condition with herbs, and eliminated my seasonal allergies with an herbal tea. She is clearly passionate and well versed in TCM and has created a beautiful, unique healing space in the heart of Riverwest.

- Liz m.

Anne’s acupuncture has changed my life. I went from hardly being able to rotate my neck (due to trigger points, tight muscles, stress, etc) to undoing decades of tension in just 3 months. So worth it!

- LEIGHANN E.

Lovely place. Anne is a beautiful soul. Went in for neck pain and walked out feeling so much better, refreshed, cleansed and love the tea, the oils and bought a bundle of sage and mugwort!

- CORTNEY P.

This is the kind of healthcare (as opposed to "sick" care) more of us should take advantage of, especially in this economy where adequate western healthcare is far from a given for many. I've been in for both acupuncture and massage. Anne and Johanna are amazing humans. I love that the business is committed to being part of the Riverwest community. The space itself is inspiring and relaxing, and a great place to duck into during the long Wisconsin winter that's around the corner. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

- DANNY T.

Anne is very skillful, targeted, and thorough. I was having stress-related jaw pain so much that I couldn't open my mouth and chew, and after a thorough and precise treatment, the pain is nearly gone.

- CHELSEA W.

Had been dealing with vertigo for years and tried a local acupuncture center and it only got worse. Then I got a referral from a friend to visit Ann and have finally found relief. Love this place and refer all my friends.

- Krista D.

The atmosphere is calm and minimalist. Anne is kind and professional. Prices are really good for what you get.

- Chelsea O.

For intermittent waking at night and for lingering back pain, my experience has been a game-changer. I only wish I had started this 5+ years ago... Thank you, Anne.

- Angela S.

Having tried massage, chiropractic treatments, and more pillows and mattresses than I can count to help with my neck pain, some friends suggested BEING. I loved that I could book the appointment online. The location was easy to find and I snagged parking right across the street, another bonus. Anne was very nice and thorough in both her forms and questions. Her calm demeanor definitely put me at ease!

- Warren D.

I've been there twice now, first time was my intro to acupuncture. It was a great experience. Friendly staff, great prices, perfect ambience, I will be back. Check it out!

FAQs

The BEING Intake Assessment is a 40-minute deep dive designed to uncover your constitutional pattern — the root disruption beneath your symptoms. This comprehensive visit includes a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pattern diagnosis, a full review of your medications and potential herb-drug interactions, and a review of any bloodwork or lab numbers you share for further analysis through a TCM lens. We may also do orthopedic and neurofunctional evaluations to understand how your muscle system and structure contribute to your condition.

You'll leave the same day with a plan already underway — herbs, acupuncture, or both, based on what your assessment shows. Within 48 hours, you'll also receive a written, strategic treatment plan outlining your clear priorities and measurable milestones. Throughout the process, we translate between medical systems so you can navigate both worlds with confidence and clarity.

We work with patients experiencing complex, chronic patterns that often span multiple systems. Common concerns include metabolic disruption (unexplained weight changes, energy crashes, blood sugar or temperature imbalances), immune confusion (frequent infections, sensitivities, inflammation, or autoimmune issues), hormonal chaos (cycle irregularities, fertility challenges, thyroid or adrenal dysfunction), digestive dysfunction (bloating, irregular elimination, food sensitivities, microbiome imbalance), and nervous system dysregulation (anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, including TMJ, or trauma responses). Our approach addresses these interconnected patterns holistically, rather than treating symptoms in isolation.

Because real change in the body follows biology, not convenience. Lasting transformation requires enough time for systems to recalibrate at a cellular and neurological level. Cellular turnover takes approximately 90-120 days. Neuroplastic changes require at least 8-12 weeks to hold. Hormonal systems need multiple full cycles to rebalance, and chronic inflammation typically resolves over 12-16 weeks. Treating long-standing conditions with single or sporadic sessions is like taking antibiotics for one day—it’s ineffective and can even create setbacks. We design our programs to match how the body actually heals, so your time, energy, and investment lead to meaningful, durable results.

Yes. If you're not local, or you just prefer to work remotely, telehealth is available.

Telehealth is used primarily for Chinese herbal medicine, which doesn't require an in-person visit. During your remote consultation, we go through your health history, current symptoms, and what your body is showing right now. From there, we compound a custom herbal formula matched to your presentation and ship it directly to you.

Acupuncture does require an in-person visit and isn't offered via telehealth.

Not sure which route makes sense for you? Book a free Fit-Call and we'll figure it out together.

At present, we do not offer insurance billing services. However, we are more than willing to furnish you with receipts that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. We strongly recommend verifying your coverage with your insurer before scheduling an appointment, even if you believe you have suitable insurance in place.

Yes, you can use your HSA or FSA card to cover the cost of your acupuncture treatment.

Our fees for services provided by a Chinese Herbal Practitioner are eligible for reimbursement when accompanied by a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) through a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), or health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). Combined treatment plans are also covered with an LMN. Please indicate to us if you are planning on using FSA or HSA so a LMN can be provided that day.

It's important to note that reimbursement is not available with a limited-purpose flexible spending account (LPFSA) or a dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA).

BEING is designed for people experiencing burnout, hormonal imbalance, chronic pain, or other persistent patterns who want to understand why their symptoms are happening—not just manage them. Our care is best suited for those who are ready to invest in a thoughtful, three-month (or longer) transformation and engage in a process of deeper restoration over time. If you’re seeking one-time or drop-in care, prioritizing the lowest-cost option, or not yet ready for this level of commitment, BEING may not be the right fit. If you’re unsure, new patients are welcome to schedule a complimentary Fit- Call Assessment to explore alignment and determine the most appropriate next step.

Most approaches focus on suppressing symptoms rather than understanding why they exist. At BEING, we look for the constitutional pattern beneath your symptoms: the root disruption that caused your body to adapt this way in the first place. From there, we apply a systematic, time-based treatment strategy designed to restore balance across systems, not just quiet individual complaints. It’s the difference between constantly bailing water and fixing the leak that caused the flooding in the first place.
